How can anyone do any level of research on David and Wallis and not come to the conclusion that they were in love with each other? I’m guessing some sort of combination of cynicism and willful ignorance. Like sometimes I see the “analysis” of their relationship some people come up with, and I’m convinced we must not be talking about the same people.
Okay, here's what I'm wondering about Kate/Party Pieces...
When Kate worked for Party Pieces, what were her responsibilities? Is she credited on their website or in their print materials? Did clients and suppliers ever get calls from her? Did she take meetings with her parents? Like if Carole had a meeting, would Kate be there with her asking questions and keeping track of things? I work for my mom, and when she does a show, I’m there all day keeping track of things and making sure her orders are carried out. Do any former Party Pieces employees remember receiving orders from Kate, or working along side her? Maybe she worked online, but I’ve never heard of her having computer skills. Also, why did she major in art history and not business, or marketing, or web design, or any kind of graphic design or merchandising? I understad it may not have been her plan from the beginning to work at Party Pieces, but let’s not pretend she was intending to be an art history professor or work as an art dealer or at a musuem, because that just doesn’t make sense with what we’ve seen. I don’t remember her ever showing any interest in art.
I understand the issue of her not being seen much at the headquarters, but were her parents there most days? Maybe she was with Mike and Carole, taking meetings with them and helping with shipping.
Those skeptical of Kate seem to act like she had no job at all, whereas her fans act like she had responsibilities and did a lot to support her family’s business.
Edward VIII & Wallis Simpson- Well, you know he loved her more than she loved him. She was a golddigger. She wrote nice letters to her ex-husband. He was probably gay anyway. It was some weird sex thing. I bet she was really a man. They were probably both Nazis. He forced her to marry him, or maybe she put a spell on him. Not a real love story.
George VI & Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon- She was probably in love with his brother, or that Jamie Stuart fellow. He was weird and mouselike and followed her around like a puppy dog. It was totally one-sided. He couldn’t get it up, or maybe she just refused to have sex with him. Either way their kids were conceived with a turkey baster. Not a real love story.
Elizabeth II & Prince Philip- He totally cheated on her with her cousin, and his cousin’s wife. He’s a creepy racist Nazi. She probably wished she could’ve divorced him years ago. You know they totally haven’t slept in the same bed in years. It was a mistake. The Queen Mum knew it was a mistake. Andrew even said he could never imagine his parents making love. Not a real love story.
Prince Charles & Camilla Parker-Bowles- They’re awful people. Bad people don’t fall in love. They don’t even have that emotional capacity. Did you hear the phone conversation? It’s some weird sex thing. Totally. Creepy bastard talks to plants. I bet he’ll cheat on Camilla next. She deserves it. Poor Diana. Not a real love story.
Prince William & Kate Middleton- She’s a social climber. Her mom put her up to it. He doesn’t love her. I bet she’s good in bed. She only ever went to St. Andrews to get with William. They broke up in 2007, and probably a bunch of other times. I heard she got an abortion. She slept with his friends, and he cheated a bunch. He settled for her. Not a real love story.
Prince Harry & Chelsy Davy- He’s just a playboy prince. He’s a cheater, and probably a Nazi because, you know, why not? She looks like a crack whore. Probably using him. I heard her dad is friends with a dictator; she probably is too. She’s what they call a practice girl, and Harry is way too much of a womanizer to settle down with her. Obviously he dumped her, no way a woman would ever dump a prince. Not a real love story.
So, have I missed anything? Or do you people see that it’s the same fucking thing every time? No, every relationship is not the same. Some people are blatently more in love than others, and some relationships work out better than others. But if it works, it works. You’re not going to find any perfect stories involving flawed people.
of the footage of Wallis and David kissing on the dock in NY in 1952? I’ve seen the footage on British Pathe but not Youtube which means I can’t make one. Anyone know if there’s a clip on youtube or a way to make a GIF from British Pathe?
Thanks for the reply! Tbh I still don´t know what I should think of him and this whole Nazi stuff. It just plain puzzles me. But what really annoys me is how they portray him as "murderer" of his brother and how Elizabeth was so disappointed and the whole burden etc. Maybe she would have been still Queen if he didn´t abdicated. And is it true that the establishment wanted the Kents on the throne?
The Nazi stuff was basically b.s. as all he really did was meet with Hitler, and support appeasement. He acted stupidly, and hindsight is 20/20, but that doesn’t make him a Nazi or anything. George VI died of lung cancer. He got it because he smoked. If he hadn’t smoked as much, he would have lived longer. It’s as simple as that. I actually think Elizabeth (if you mean the Queen Mum) did want to be Queen, but was upset on her husband’s behalf because she knew how badly he didn’t want to be King. So it wasn’t really about her, but her feelings towards her husband and her concerns on how he was holding up. I think she did just fine. As for Elizabeth the daughter, yes she didn’t want to be Queen, but she’s done alright and I don’t think she’s an unhappy person. She probably would have ended up Queen either way, but she would have been more mature and ready for it if she’d gotten the throne in ‘72 instead of ‘52. The story about the Kents is very much rumor. Yes there were people who wanted to skip to George (then Duke of Kent) because he was, next to David, the most polished and charismatic of the brothers. He was also the most intelligent. But George had skeletons in his closet far beyond David’s, and certainly Bertie’s. I’m talking drug addiction, affairs with both men and women, and even an alleged lovechild. It just wouldn’t have worked, and the plan didn’t ever come close to happening. I don’t think George wanted to be King any more than the other brothers.
No. He could have actually done very well. The problem was on him and on the government. He didn’t want to play the game, and Baldwin and Parliament were not willing to give him any flexibility. I actually think he would have been an excellent king and his popularity and people skills could have really shown through. But it was really an issue of his personal desires and feelings. He wanted to be who he wanted to be, and he wouldn’t have been happy on the throne, so perhaps it’s for the best he gave it up.
does chelsy father have connections with the dictator of zimbawe?
I’ve heard that, but I don’t know. Given what I’ve learned in history class the fact that her father is white, of British descent, and owns vast property in Africa speaks for some kind of horrible atrocities in her family history. But that’s not her fault. The royals have their share of nasty ancestors, and even I’m not immune to that. My ancestors owned a major cotton plantation in the Antebellum South. It is what it is.
"Chelsy has been criticized with people claiming she used her royal connections to get jobs." I know you didn't say that, but Chelsy had all of those connections on her own! Harry was just like a normal guy in her group! She didn't need his royal connections!
Oh, I know. But some people don’t really get that Chelsy comes from that world (mainly because she doesn’t give off the stuck-up aristo vibe) and think she was using Harry. I mean, if I knew nothing about their backgrounds I’d guess Kate came from that world and not Chelsy.
Look at Chelsy though. She had just about the same much press, if not more violent. She still managed to get a job, do training, and all of that. She didn't make excuses and people were against her 24/7.
I won’t argue with you over that, but Chelsy has been criticized with people claiming she used her royal connections to get jobs. Also, I don’t think Chelsy thinks about issues of how things look the way Kate was forced to since Chelsy isn’t after marriage.
Are you agreeing that Kate got that degree as a Mrs. Degree?
Possibly. I mean, a lot of spoiled rich or upper-middle class girls get similar degrees without intending to land a man but just to live off their parents and until they can move to Brooklyn to work in a gallery. Of course, then they realize that for every art gallery in Brooklyn with an opening there are a thousand girls just like them trying to fill it, and they give up and end up selling real estate and marrying a banker.
I don’t think Kate had that much of a life plan and ended up picking a major based on liking the classes and nothing else.
I dislike the excuse of Kate not getting an outside job because it would look like she was using connections or they were using her. There have been MANY (if not all) royal girlfriends that have had jobs or gotten jobs while dating a prince. It's just with Kate that this excuse comes up.
Yes, but given the media obsession with Prince William and the British Monarchy, beyond most of the other ones, her situation is a bit more complicated. Kate has been very high profile since college, which made things harder than if she’d been older and had an established career path. Could she have still gotten a job? Yes. Would that have made her totally above criticism for those determined to criticize? I doubt it.
Also it’s worth noting that she majored in Art History. That’s not exactly a degree that guarantees job security, and makes it more likely job offers she was getting were because she was William’s girlfriend. And again I’m not saying that all of her choices were totally right or that there wasn’t some level of laziness or wanting to be constantly available for William involved. But a lot of us in the same situation she was in would have doen the same thing.
"This Kate article is fishier than my cat’s breath." HAHAHA! Good one! I wonder if it was actually Bobbi though. It may have just been the department store she went to.
It could have been PR for Bobbi Brown, a division or distributor under their umbrella, a larger company associate with them, the department store, or just the people at that one make-up counter who hoped to improve sales this month.
I don't think there's any way where a person can remember all of that plus the colors bought. I seriously wonder if they just want to get rid of their stock and that's why they named those VERY specific things.
Yes, exactly! If you’ve ever met people who work in PR that’s how it works. The Daily Fail also frequently runs PR pieces, most notably last year when the ran with a story on how Queen Elizabeth saw The King’s Speech and found Colin Firth’s performance very moving and went into detail about how she totally endorsed the movie and loved certain things about it. This being right when Harvey Weinstein was making his big push for Oscar nominations and the UK wide release. I’ve yet to see any solid proof she saw it, though Charles and William have.
This Kate article is fishier than my cat’s breath. I bet she did go by the counter and probably did make a purchase as Bobbi Brown is her brand of choice. But they’re blatently using her to move products, and if I were her I wouldn’t patronize their company anymore if they’d done this without my consent. Especially considering the part about her being worried about “looking old” which would be used against her by a lot of people.
A recent article just claimed that Kate was recently seen at a department store getting makeup tips for the tour coming up in September.
Do you know which one? Trying to google this. It wouldn’t surprise me. If you’ve ever gotten your make-up done professionally it can take an insanely long time, and often they don’t do what you want them to. It’s absolutely necessary for most fashion shoots and the like, but Kate is a Duchess and not a model. Kate’s smart to avoid that, and I’ve always found it ridiculous how many celebrities are totally at the mercy of their make-up artist to the point that they can’t leave the house otherwise.
Thank you! I understand she might have not known about the wind, but not wearing anything or even wearing a thong was such a back ways of thinking. She does have problems getting out of cars at times, her skirt had blown up previously on the trip (saved by a slip), she had to bend over a lot, etc. It was risky, and in the end she lost.
I mean, with that cut and fabric that was like the last outfit in the world to wear without anything on underneath. I’ve never gone out in my life without panties, so even with something different it doesn’t make sense. I thought in Great Britain, and the US and Canada, its just standard practice that everyone male or female wears underpants.
I recently read that Kate did her own wedding makeup after taking professional courses (I'm assuming from Bobbi Brown, because that's where a majority of the products came from). So is that definitely confirmed? I find that incredibly risky considering the varieties of media coverage that flocked to the wedding.
That was published by several sources, and indirectly confirmed by the royal family. A make-up artist from Bobbi Brown was there (and that is the line she used) but that was for the “bridal party” and not just Kate. So it could have been for Pippa. But I’d imagine she did help Kate out. I know Kate did her eyes herself as the way her eyeliner was done is the same way she’s done it since college and also not really the way most professional MUAs would do it.
I think she did have classes, but I don’t recall if that was specifically for the wedding or several years earlier when she was trying to get into photography (most photographers I know have some level of hair and make-up skill). It was a risky move, but Kate has consistantly done her own make-up on many occasions since entering the public eye. She knew what she wanted, and if you look carefully at what she did it was all within her skill level and her comfort zone.
I agree immensely with the Canada event. It's just insurance I guess you could say. You've got thousands of people watching so why not wear something of coverage? If it's not the wind then there's a possible fall while walking. It just wasn't a smart move, end of story.
I mean, I just don’t understand not wearing panties. It is insurance, exactly! You never know when your skirt will blow around a little (unless you get it weighted like HM) or even then you still have to get out of cars and such. Also, when you sit down in a short skirt it often slips around so that if you weren’t wearing panties your ass/other parts would be directly against the chair.
I don’t know, the kind of logic where you think it’s okay to go out anywhere, wearing anything without panties on just doesn’t sense to me.
The things people make up to NOT like Kate is truly crazy. What woman DOESN'T have a picture or an incident where part of her underwear was visible? It's not like she meant to show off her underwear, she probably didn't even realize. Also, if this confessor has a problem with Kate's underwear from forever ago, then she probably shouldn't Google "Letizia wind"...
As I had said in the comment, I don’t care about her underwear being visible, but what is gross is the picture of her in Canada where it’s apparent she’s not even wearing any underwear.
You can see her butt cheeks! Think about that for a second. Would you let a naked woman sit in your car, or in your home, or at your restaurant? Well, what about a woman with a short, thin skirt, and nothing on underneath? Who does that? Paris Hilton, and Lindsay Lohan, when both were suffering from substance abuse problems and desperate for attention, and now the future queen?
Also, I actually do like Kate, which is why this kind of thing amazes me so much.
I've been reading some trashy royal blogs and have now developed significantly more respect for Carole Middleton
If this stuff is true, she’s like the British Kris Jenner! I’m impressed. Get it girl! In the good ol’ US of A we call that motivation. I bet she’s really eager for Kate to give her some royal grandkids.
I’m so sorry for the lack of updates, but as some of you may know, I’m currently visiting family in the US and it’s been so hectic and FUN!!!! I ended up meeting with the darling vintage-royalty in New York (she’s the reason I set up this blog after I came across her own on the royal family - go follow her!!!) We visited ‘The Met’ and then proceeded to ‘The Strand’ where we purchased and I added to my own Kennedy library!!! I’ve gotten loadsa books over the past 2 weeks, including some on JFK and my latest love, Abraham Lincoln! (I’m thinking I might set up a blog on him!!!)
I then returned to the jfklibrary on Saturday and go to see the Academy Award winning ‘Robert Kennedy Remembered’ (1968) as narrated by Richard Burton and also the special First Lady exhibit… Can’t wait to share pics!!!
Also, I’ve some wonderful and interesting messages to reply to, so bear with me :-) xx
It was quite fabulous, wasn’t it? And thanks for the reccomendation, all my followers need to be following you too! You’ll be posting a review of ‘Robert Kennedy Remembered”, right?
Wow.. that's really crazy to hate someone that much. but how on earth do you do you go through shock and denial over someone's engagement? I'm re-reading it again and it's actually funny because they sound kinda insane.
Yeah, it’s definitely something! I’m imagining she was one of those who was infatuated with William back in the day. This sounds somewhat like the reaction you get from one of those really clingy, possesive girls when she finds out her ex is married/engaged to another woman.
